Net Zero Ready Homes
A Net Zero Ready (NZR) home is the highest tier of energy-efficient housing in Canada that is built ready for a renewable energy source, such as solar panels.
80% more energy-efficient than a standard home built to the minimum provincial building code. Designed to achieve an airtightness level roughly 3 to 5 times better than a standard new build.
Renewable ready homes are structurally reinforced for energy systems such as solar panels with a dedicated electrical conduit already in place to the main panel.
Urbandale’s Net Zero Ready Homes are meticulously constructed, featuring enhanced insulation, high-performance windows, and superior airtightness to reduce heating and cooling demands. Appliances, lighting fixtures, and mechanical systems are chosen for maximum energy efficiency.
Single family homes
Our Net Zero Ready single family homes come standard with a 5 kW Solar Package *generating 5kW of electricity – saving you an estimated $750+ /year.

Townhomes
Our Net Zero Ready townhomes are engineered to the highest standards of energy efficiency, designed to reduce your energy bills and increase your home comfort from day one.
While solar panels aren’t included at the time of purchase, we’ve done all the heavy lifting for you. Every home is built with a “Solar-Ready” infrastructure, featuring:
Standard Features – Singles & Towns
Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pump
Specially engineered for harsh Canadian winters, ensuring consistent warmth even in extreme temperatures. Air Source Heat pumps extract heat from outdoor air during winter and transfer this warmth to the inside air. During the summer it will expel heat from the home for year-round comfort.
Extract heat from colder ambient air efficiently – even in cold weather.
Hybrid Heat Pump Water Heater
Harnessing heat from the surrounding ambient air into a converter that uses it to heat the water. During periods of high hot water demand, a switch to standard electric resistance heat is made automatically. Giving you quick recovery during these high use times, all while owning the water heater with no rental fees.
Heat water using significantly less energy with ambient air temperatures.
Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV)
ERVs regulate indoor air quality by recovering heat and moisture from stale air during winter and preheating incoming fresh air for added comfort. While, also maintaining optimal humidity levels year-round, reducing dryness-related discomforts, and enhancing overall indoor air quality.
Maintain comfortable humidity levels throughout every season.
Home Energy Monitoring System
Monitoring systems empowers homeowners with real-time insights into energy consumption patterns. See how individual appliances affect your energy bills and receive practical and mindful recommendations on how to reduce costs. View data from where it’s convenient for you; a smartphone friendly app will let you take control into the palm of your hand.
Identify inefficiencies, optimize consumption, and reduce utility bills.
Energy Star Certified® Triple-Pane Windows
Windows that maximize energy efficiency by insulating your home, keeping it warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Featuring a triple-pane design with gas-filled chambers for superior sound reduction and Low-E coating for UV protection, ensuring a quiet and comfortable living environment.
Lower outside sound transmission while being thermal efficient.
Urbandale Construction’s Proud Foundation
We prioritize comfort and durability by insulating below and on the exterior of the foundation, ensuring warmer floors and a cozy atmosphere. Our exclusive Proud Foundation has a waterproof elastomeric coating, minimizing the risk of foundation cracks and moisture issues. Enjoy peace of mind, backed by a 30-year warranty against leaks.
Enjoy healthier basement spaces that are warm and comfortable.
Air Tightness
Airtight homes offer more consistent temperatures, fewer drafts, and less condensation and mold. Contrary to common belief, being airtight doesn’t require keeping doors and windows closed. As paired with our ventilation systems which expel damp air, reducing internal humidity levels. Proper ventilation not only decreases energy usage but also enhances comfort.
Help keep outdoor pollutants and allergens out of your home.

Energy Audit
After six months, Fig Solar will evaluate your energy consumption and provide a report to determine the size and feasibility of fully offsetting your home’s energy usage. We recommend checking with Government green energy programs for available grants and financing options.
Key Benefits
Urbandale’s superior building envelope includes improved insulation, high-performance windows, advanced air sealing, and our Proud Foundation System to better control heat loss and gain.
Improved energy efficiency designed for minimal energy consumption, often including energy-efficient HVAC systems and water-saving measures. The enhanced energy efficiency can significantly reduce the amount of energy needed, which lowers costs even before any renewable energy system is installed.
Future-ready for renewables – built with the infrastructure to easily connect a renewable energy system, such as solar panels. This includes appropriate roof support, conduits, and monitoring technology.
Features like energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) provide fresh, filtered air while maintaining energy efficiency, which helps control moisture and improve air quality for a healthier indoor environment.
Our Net Zero Ready homes are designed using technology and higher quality materials – providing greater comfort with better climate control and outdoor noise reduction.
